Casting Rod w/out a Trigger

Featured Replies

Recently threw a bait caster on a spare spinning rod for the heck of it and realized it seemed comfortable. I didn’t fish with this or anything, but it got me wondering if anyone either removes the triggers from their rods or builds their rods without them. I think the added comfort when palming the reel is worth it, although I can’t say how casting would feel without the trigger. If anyone has tried this or has any thoughts on it I’d love to hear about it. Thanks.

I had a trigger break off so I sanded it smooth. It felt pretty good, but I like having the trigger. Edge rods made flipping sticks without triggers. Forget what their reasoning was, but it's supposed to be good for whatever reason.
