Outbord ?

Featured Replies

Hey guys in the process of painting my boat i removed the outboard engine, is it ok to lay this down? I have it currently leaning up agaist a 55 gallon drum - Just want to make sure im not causing any harm when i crank up my boat after the rebuild.

What make/model is it? Mine has specific ways it can be laid down and one way you kill it if you do.

Murcury 20 is all it says its pretty old ... tell me i didnt kill it - Its against a 55 gallon drum at about a 45 deg angle....

I was trying to find my manual. Basically it was one of the sides that it cannot be laid on. You might stand a chance googling it and see if you can find a manual. Also, Mercury has a contact email form their web site that would give you definitive answer for that motor. Probably throw the serial number at 'em, for better info.

Pull the plugs and spin the wotor with the battery after you remount it. This will clear any moisture out of the cylinders.

If its your standard basic 2-stroke (which Im assuming it is) then you have nothing to worry about.
