EFI vs carb'd

Featured Replies

I'm in the market to buy a boat pretty quick. Looking around the $6k-$8k range. Wanting something 18'+ with at least a 150hp motor. While I've found some decent deals on some 94+ boats that are EFI, I have found some GREAT deals on some slightly older boats ('90-'93) with carbureted motors. Should I spend the extra and get something that's EFI? Is it really that much more of a pain to own a boat thats carbureted? I've never owned a boat of this caliber before but am pretty mechanically inclined.

Discuss.  8-)

The EFI should deliver better milage. If you have never tried to start a carb Mercury on a very cold morning you havn't lived. 35* and lower some of the older ones are a bear to start.

Buy an EFI and never look back.
