Help on Electronics!

Featured Replies

I am trying to decide what electronics to buy.  I already have a Humminbird 787c2i on my console but I need another unit.  I am willing to move the 787 to the front if I were to get something nicer for the console.  Does anyone have any suggetions?  I really need to stay less that $1000.  Is it worth the money for the side imaging?  Thanks in advance for all your help!

My boater this past weekend in a BFL had the SI and wowwwww. It was pretty sweet  8-) Helped us find some cuts and stuff that you otherwise would have never known about. If you can afford I say go for it! Definitely get one of the bigger screens though, he only had the 5" and it did fine until you tried to split screen it, not nearly enough screen there to see everything.

I was looking at buying the 798, I have several questions, they have a 798C SI and a 798 CI SI, I believe the CI has an internal antenna, and the C does not, does anyone know for sure, and what is the benefit of one over the other?

Also, I am a novice by all means, I fish a 2200 acre Rez, and rarely do local tournaments, but I need a decent fishfinder and I figured why not go for it and get the SI.  Does anyone see any pros/cons to spending so much for a novice angler fishing a fairly small body of water non-competitively?

Also any advice on temporary mounting the transducer would be very helpful
