Good spots on upper Potomac?

Featured Replies

Hi

I was wondering if anyone is catching anything in the upper Potomac?

Been to Slackwater, it was dead dead dead.... only one small patch of grass, no minnows to speak of that I saw.I went all the way to I-81

I'm thinking of going to Seneca, but it's always a question of how bad the ramp is and if you can get under the aqueduct for the canal.

If anyone knows of ramps on the lower Potomac please let me know. Been looking for a long time. only know of one near National or Regan Airport ( which I'll never go to, cities freak me out :) )

Thanks

If North East, Maryland is not too far you to drive there are a lot of marinas to visit on Google to note if you can launch from them.

Over in the Charlestown area there are a bunch, too.

For starters, Google these and then search from there for others.

There are a lot of marinas in the general area of North East, Maryland.

North East Marina

Anchor Marina

McDaniel Yacht Basin

North East River Marina

Lee's Marina

Charlestown Marina

Tidewater Marina

Harve de Grace City Yacht Club

All the best and post some pics of what you catch.

WOW Thank you.. I only knew of one of those and one in Aberdeen ( Don't go there unless you really know the area, was detained by the base cops for 5 hours, missed a turn and ran straight into the base)

This was before GPS...

Why was I detained...they were bored, oh well????

If you want to brave the I-95 traffic and tolls you can go to Leesylvania state park off Route 1 or look for Hope Springs and Willow Landing marinas east of Stafford on Aquia Creek.

Look each up on Google and see directions as they are not the easiest of ramps to find.

yep....I can do that part of 95 but it can be stressful. It's about a 2 hour drive with no backups.

I got a good answer off a website that I'm sure I can't say on my mercury 50hp problems. it will take a week to work through..( full carb and fuel system cleaning).

Thanks for the info.
