TROLLING MOTOR SHAFT LENGTH...?

Featured Replies

I have a 2006 Tracker pro team 190  with a MG 54# trolling motor with a 42" shaft.I'm  going to buy  a MG tour 82#.Now my question is should I go 45" or 50" shaft, the 42 " I have now comes out of the water on rough days.I mostly fish shallow and would like to know what everybody thinks I should get from experience....Thanks

If you will search around you can find a chart to help you determine that.

go with the 45. even with the 54 on rough days it will still come out. great choice on the TM. I have a 109 MG Tour and its is great. That has athe 54 inch shaft and that boat is a Deep V and I still have to bring the motor up some.

also with the 54inch you will have it pulled so far up to fish shallow that it will get in the way.

one hint. before you bolt down the new tm make sure the prop dosen't hit the boat. My buddy put an 82 tour on his 175 PTX tracker and had to put 1/2 rubber spacers under the TM. when the motor was stowed the prop would hit the hull and if it was powered up by accident it would break the prop. I know the 46 pro did that on my PTX 175
