Featured Replies

our Walmart brand Everstart batter crapped out on us prematurely (i think so at least), started leaking and won't even charge, so we need a new battery for the up coming season.

whats a good deep cycle, marine 12v battery and where do i go to get it?

Started leaking?  Sounds like it froze.

How old is the battery and what group is it?

it was leaking around the terminal. i think it was the positive terminal. that terminal was always wet with battery acid.

the battery is 2 years old now, but it crapped out on us at the end of last season, around october 2008.

i'm not sure what you mean by group, but its a marine deep cycle.

I should hope it is a marine deep cycle.

Group 24, 27, 29.  Look at the label on the top of the battery.  If it is a 29, then it has a 24 month warranty.  18 month free replacement, 19-24 months pro-rated.

If the terminal was 'always wet with acid', then why didn't you return it immediately for a replacement?

if it wasn't fully charged and left outside during sub freezing temps, then it might have. mine stay charged and out side and have no problems. those are good batteries. I am on 3 years now and they work great, as long as you maintain them. Have you checked the water level in them? Also then why didn't you take it back if it was leaking? You sure its leaking by the post or is a cap for fill/checking water loose? If your not even sure what group it is, then maybe you should do a little research on batteries before you get a new one. read up. make sure you get the right one for your application.
