Tidal water and deep cranks

Those that fish tidal rivers do you throw crankbaits in the 10-20 ft range? I’ve been finding some schools in 12-17ft every now and then depending on the tide mostly right before low slack tide. I usually fish shallow but want to maybe have upper hand against guys during tournaments cause I’ve never seen anyone cranking off the bank. Thanks for any information
