No Spark!!!

I have a '95 Mercury 115 (very low hours), that all of a sudden has no spark. I know it's getting gas, put in new plugs, and the safety stop switch is not in the off position, yet it cranks like crazy and wont fire. Please help with any suggestions before I have to spend money!! Thanks

First make sure all the wires on the wiring harness are connected properly, the one for the safety switch may have jiggled lose or been cut somehow.

Also make sure the battery is good and fully charged. I've see that exact motor in the past on a boat with a bad battery crank over just fine with no sign of low pawer, it just wouldn't start. Jumped it with the trolling motor battery and cranked over immedietly. Apparently the flywheel wasn't turning quite fast enough to generate sufficent spark.

By chance, is your kill switch UN-attached or not working?

Buddy had problem the other day, turned the key and everything powered up nicely except the motor wouldn't turn over at all.

Turned out to be out of nuetral. I laughed, told him better than needing parts. He said he wouldn't be so quick to call next time before he checks the simple stuff out.

Ok, the killswitch is in the run position, but I'm going out right now to see if I can check the wires out. As far as the battery goes, I was trying to start it with the on board charger plugged in here at the house before I left, and still nothin'.

Well, I tried to jump it and that didn't work, and I couldn't get the remote control box fully apart to check the kill switch wires, so still nothing.

The first 100.00 you spend will be the most important. Pay a reputable shop to check it out instead of just throwing parts at it. You might spend 500.00 and know no more than you do now otherwise.

Thanks for all the input. I brought it to the shop, and it's officially a bad stator. I'll be back in business by next weekend.
