newbie with a FF

Featured Replies

i didnt see a forum for electronics so i hope i am posting this in the right section.

I recently purchased and installed a Eagle cuda 300 on my kayak and have been doing some online FF research before I get on the water for the first time with the FF.

My question may sound pretty elementary but please bare with me. Normally if you find under water structure will you fish this even if your FF shows no fish on or near it? I am just wondering how accoratly a FF will identify a fish around cover. Thanks

I use my ff for many things then just seeing structure and fish. Mainly I use it to get on some kind of patter as to catching fish. If you catch a fish in 56 degree water and the depth is 6 and half feet then the next time I'm trolling along and the conditions are the same I'm going to slow down and fish harder in that area. This helps me the most.

You can have structure with no fish....but you will never have fish with no structure. As far as the ability of your FF to detect fish or not is dependent on the pixel count of the unit.

Also, it depends on how you have your unit set-up. If it has options of ping rate and chart speed. If these are available for adjustment, set the ping at max. and the chart speed at 75%. That should ensure you the most detail for the particular unit you are using. Hope this is of some help.  :)
