"Liquid" patch for repairing chest waders?

Featured Replies

Gang,

My Browning chest waders have sprung several small leaks where the boot meets the fabric.  I've considered trying a regular patch but the roughness (unevenness) of the area and the number of small leaks makes me wonder if there isn't a better alternative.  A friend suggested liquid PVC but it's pricey and has pretty toxic fumes.  Any ideas?

I don't know if yours are neoprene or not, but I used this:

.. and it worked wonders for me. No complaints

Nope, not Neoprene but may still work.  Does it dry semi-flexible?

Thanks for the idea/suggestion.

I stuck a jerkbait into the knee of my waders, so I bought a patch kit from Wal-Mart, and went heavy on the glue that came with it. Then, I applied a lot of heavy duty glue. Let it cure for a few days, then I took some waterproofing spray and coated my entire waders. Fixed them right up.

Since your holes are along a seem, I would patch them up good, and hit them with some waterproofing spray. Make sure you let them cure for a few days before wearing them.

Use this.  Used for wetsuits and drysuits for scuba diving.  Also had a customer that used it to patch a flat tire and ran it for years after.  Great stuff.  Dries flexible.
