New batteries =Optima Batteries?

Featured Replies

I have a 04 Triton and I think I will need new trolling motor batteries and I want to go with Optima batteries. I have a freind that works there and get them real cheap. My question is which one do I get the blue top? And will they fit in Triton? I think the Optima's are a bit bigger but I am not sure.

Any help would be geat! :'( :-[ :-/ :-? :(:)

I'm not sure which color battery you need but Optimas web page should help. Be sure your onboard charger is compatible with AGM batteries, otherwise you may fry them. The charging characteristics are different for AGM and gell cell batteries compared to lead acid batteries......................Al

I know for sure the blue top is a mix battery... half start half deep cycle sort of thing. It would probably be best as your starting battery (with extra trickle for electronics). I belive the yellow is deep cycle, but they should say on them. Mine is actually smaller than the standard type of battery, and weights a little less.

Thanks for the heads up! I think I have a duel pro charger, I will look later to see for sure! Where can I find out if it is compatible, call the charger company I would say! :-?

The blue top battery is the marine battery.  I use mine for trolling, and it is AWESOME! I have two in my '99 Triton powering my trolling motor, and they'll run hard for several trips before needing to be recharged. They are expensive, but well worth every penny.

Bass man, what kind of charger do you have? Al Wolbach said you have to be careful that some chargers will fry the Optima's! I did try to call the Optima people today but was put on hold for way too long! I will try to call them back again. :-?
