Does this really work????

Featured Replies

Has anyone here tried this out? Does it really work or is it a gimmick? I see that it has been discontinued but some still sale it. I could see it working in conjunction with a good weedless prop.

I'd love to know if it works.

The lake I love to fish is 3/4  solid weeds.

The weeds are so bad that they bog down my trolling and main motor.

I guy that is in my club uses them and said they work great. the would help me . on my MG the prop never gets weeded up.I just give it a shot of high power and the weeds fly off.  the weeds get stuck on the shaft. so it wouldn't help me.

I may just give it a try! I doubt anything could make a FL trolling motor completely weedless though!

I purchased a tool almost like this one 6-8 years ago, mine has stainless blade and hose clamp. It will keep the prop free but weeds still collect around the shaft. It helps but not the cure-all for weeds. I was using it on an 80 lb motorguide with a 4 bladed prop..........Al

Well i just ordered one and extra blades too so we will see how they work. I could have made one myself but i am lazy!  ;D

I will be using this one a MinnKota Edge 55lb thrust 12V motor with a weedless wedge II prop.

Sadly, nothing can stop those weeds from wrapping around the shaft Al Wolbach!!!

I will be using this one a MinnKota Edge 55lb thrust 12V motor with a weedless wedge II prop.

I've got a 50lb Endura. Lemme know how it works! :o

I have the same thing. My version is two sawzall blades and a couple of clamps. Works really well

That is exactly what i was thinking of making on mine man! Can you please post some pics?

Sawzall blade?? Nah...Strap a couple Ginsu knives to the motor!! Much sharper and if they dull on you just remember...Lifetime Warranty!!! ;D You'll never have to worry about weeds, aluminum cans or radiator hoses fouling up that motor ever again!! ;D ;D

Dont have pics, but will try to take some tonight.  Its really pretty simple.  Just get two blades, face them in the opposite direction of rotation (that way the cutting edge is facing where the weeds will be rotating) and clap down.  It looks pretty similar to your gadget in placement.  I have found that Lennox blades work nicely, Dewalt just doesnt cut it  :o

Sorry about not having pics up yet.  Wife and I had our first baby that same night that I promised you pics, and I am certain that she wasnt up for me snapping a trolling motor pic in between contractions...

it will be a week or so before I can get them.  My brother borrowed my boat saturday and then promptly wrecked my trailer.  its sitting at the marina uncovered, tires blown, fenders gone, transom saver broken.....

Don't ever have to worry about weeds on my trollingmotor, godbless MinnKota.  Seriously though, if these work so great why don't you see the professionals using them.  Just my opinion.

Just took a set off my MK Edge 40#.

The Eel grass os topping out and the tendrils are wicked thick this year. Tried the shear magic, and was really disappointed. The tendrils wound under the blades worse than if they weren't installed. Removed them this morning before we left for the lake. Had a much easier time with the grass today.

Just had my Terrova with a weedless wedge 2 in thick weeds this weekend and couldn't be more impressed.  That prop really throws them away.  The whole time I was only on 25% power and only had one time where any got tangled what so ever. I just bumped the power to 50% and they were gone.  Much more impressive than my MG machette.  Not sure why you would ever need blades with that prop, but if it works it works.

I've got a Weedless Wedge 2, but these FL weeds can get pretty darn nasty! The prop does do a very good job at keeping most of the stuff off though. Much better than my 30lb motor with the original Weedless Wedge.
