Hi-Viz #30 lb. Braid On Bait Caster For Top Water ?

*I was gifted a new spool of Hi-Viz #30 lb. braid and as I sit here looking at the line I'm trying to figure out what applications to use it for :

  1. Top Water Poppers , Spooks , WP110's ,  etc. with a short mono leader ? While #30 lb. Hi-Viz color braid is pretty thin , I'm concerned the line still may be seen from underneath by bass in clear water ?
  2. Swim Jigs & Chatter Baits with a short FC or Mono leader ? Probably the same concerns as #1 above .
  3. "Bubba Shot" , Heavier Shaky Head , T-Rigs , Football Jigs and other bottom contact line watching techniques with a FC or Mono leader ? Probably the best use for a high- viz braid on a bait caster .

*Your thoughts ?  - Now that it is Fall I mostly want to throw top water for a while but not sure if a Hi - Viz braid help or hurt (especially since you watch the lure instead of the line for top water applications ) .

I use this braid for weightless/wacky rigged senkos with about 5 ft of leader. If I need it to sink faster I use FC shock leader. Shock leader will sink faster but still has enough stretch not to burst under hook set strain. If not then I use 14lb mono. It amazing how many strikes you can see with Hi-Viz that you would otherwise miss. I enjoy using it.

I also use this for frogs and buzz baits as there are no treble hooks to straighten out on hard hook sets with straight braid.

I tend to stay away from straight braid with any treble hook applications for a myriad of reasons. Number one being bent out hooks. I know, I know, softer rod, lighter drag, and all that jazz. The trade off just isn't worth it to me. I tried it and it just didn't work for me. YMMV

Number two being line/hook tangles because braid is so limp.

Again, YMMV

I’ve thrown everything on hi viz line. Black ,Brown,Green Sharpies to color line anywhere from 5 to 20ft does the trick. Get the sharpies with big flat tip. I slice a small notch to make it easy for line to slip into. That said topwater is my normal application for hi viz line. I Don’t use it for anything else unless I have no choice

You can do whatever with it. As stated above, a sharpie makes it "low vis" and a 5'-6' leader of whatever line suits your application solves any other issues. If you aren't afraid of leaders, braid is a wonderful, long lasting, and money saving line.

Thanks for the replies - I'll try a fat Sharpie on the first 5' of braid before my leader ...
