Reading Your Sonar

    Every time that I am out on the water I always have trouble reading my sonar.  When I look down at it I will see a ledge or hump but I have no idea where to cast at for my bait to hit the ledge or other underwater structure.  Is it to the right to the left or right behind me?  I have no idea.  I look at the the sonar at the steering wheel of the boat because I do not have one at the bow.  

    BTW, my unit is a Lowrance HDS series 7.
