Honda 4 Stroke

Featured Replies

I have a 02 40 HP and want to get a spare prop/nut for it to have just in case. I was told its a 11 degree prop (?) but thats all I know. Not real concerned with performance or whatever else the differences are in props unless I need to be. Its on a pontoon boat so it aint a speed demon. :-)

What else do I need to know to get one ?

Wheres a good source to get a spare prop online...even used is OK ?

Thanks for any input.

Mark

IF you know the part number for your prop you can get one off of ebay. I bought a few from iboats.com. But any marina or boat dealer can get one. I use this guy http://www.midwestpropeller.com/ for all my repairs. He sells new as well.

You should really check what size prop you have and find out your WOT RPMs are. You may get better performance with different prop.

TeamD,

Thanks for your help. I'll have to see if theres a # on the prop.

At least I know where to start now!

Found it ... "C3 X 11.6 X 11"   My friend said he thinks C3 means cupped 3 blade. I think I'll stick with these stock settings.

I'll try to find a backup based on those #'s. Thanks for the tip. Never bought a prop before so I need the help. lol

The 11.6 is the diameter in inches of the prop. The 11 is the pitch in inches which means IF there was no loss of traction in water (slip) the boat would move forward 11 inches for each rotation of the prop.

Thanks Wayne. Any recommendations on where to buy a spare at a fair price ?

Thanks Mark
