Boat seat screws

Featured Replies

I purchased new Action Copolymar boat seats this winter and mounted them in by boat.  The other night while leaning back in one of them all for screws blew out of the bottom and sent me flipping over backwards.  Pretty funny to watch I guess but I'm a little bruised up.  Anyway, does anyone know of some sort of thread compound I can put on the screws to make them hold better when I screw them back in?  Thanks in advance.

You could try filling the holes with an epoxy and drilling them to the proper size. Nothing else (like Loctite) will keep them from striping out again. If I were you I would call them up and see if they can replace it. All Action products have atleast a 1 year warranty on them. 1-800-733-5514

Don't use loctite, it hardens plastics and makes it brittle, making things even worse.  Super glue is the best thing to use for a thread locker in plastics

Not sure what size screws you used but I've had a couple of those seats on portable jon boat cramps for at least 10 years and have never had a problem.   Use the biggest, longest lag screw you can get in the hole of the base plate and won't go through into your butt.

I am not fimiliar with what these seats look like exactly. But my sugestion is to drill through the hole completely making a clearence hole and use a carriage blot with a nut and lock washer. You can ues a square file to make the top of the hole square to match the carriage bolt and so it will not turn while tightening.
