Control Cable Replacement

Featured Replies

Anyone replaced their control cable?  I have a 1986 40hp Johnson.  You almost have to stand on the box to get the thing past idle.  Is this a hard job to do?  I did replace the steering cable and that wasnt a huge deal so I think this will be easy.

Just be carefull when you split the control box to get the old cable out and you don't let parts start flying.  When you put the new one in, make sure it's adjusted properly in the control box.  Get the neutral centers off and it can make operation a bit difficult.
