Lake St Clair Rookie

Featured Replies

The past few years I've been going to Presque Bay on Lake Erie but this year I decided to go to Lake St Clair instead. Anybody have any tips or suggestions on where to go? Going up the first week of June and probably gonna be staying on the Anchor Bay end of the Lake.

Haven't been to St. Clair in 20 years, but we would always find off shore grass beds and toss tubes.  We would stay in Belle River and usually go in June.  Some of the best fishing I've ever experienced. Have fun!

So are you planning your trip as a family vacation or is this all about fishing? If this is a fishing trip I'd plan to come 2 or 3 weeks earlier. The weather will be nicer in June but likely a good portion of the smallies will have spawned by then so you will be dealing with fish in a post spawn funk. If you are dead set on coming then bring some 3 to 4" grubs and swim them back on a 1/8 or 3/16 ounce jighead.

As far as places to fish most people either fish the Mile Roads or Anchor Bay. Canadian waters are still closed at this time.

Mile roads, Anchor Bay, and Muskamoot Bay are my favorite areas.  Muskamoot is on fire early season.  I've had days on the Moot where it was one after another, literally.  All the fish seem to clear out once the party boaters take to the water around the beginning of June.
