I'm think about adding a wideside transducer to my trolling motor. I fish a deep water reservoir and the bass and trout relate to the bait fish (shad). I'm thinking that the wideside sonar will be able to find and track the shad.

If you have experience with this system or would like to make a comment, I would appreciate it.

I was reading about it, it seems pretty cool. I have the 727 but I dont really fish too deep so I would not need it.

are you talking about the side imaging sonar if so go to yahoo groups under humming bird side imaging look at the pics

I dont think he is. On the 700 series it offers a wide side transducer, kinda like the side imaging just not as clear and picture like.

It's not side imaging sonar. I have a 717. It's not bad. When I see a bait ball on a point, I'm sure to catch fish.

My plan is to mount a second transducer on the trolling motor with the wideside transducer, and use it to search for bait fish. It sounds like a good plan, and I was wondering if anyone has experience with this setup.
