St. Croix Triumph 6'6" medium/fast spinning for jerkbaits?

Featured Replies

What do y'all think about this rod for jerkbaits? I've heard some people prefer extra-fast and some people say a medium/fast is more ideal. I would also likely use it for some topwater poppers and walking baits. I'd appreciate some input!

I fish smaller x-raps on it, along with tubes, swimbaits, and more. Ive never been too picky about my rods like some others here so I can't be too much help. I think if you're only twitching jerkbaits and making them dance in place maybe an XF would be the ticket, but i also like to do long sweeping pull and pauses, or sometimes just straight crank them in which is fine for me on the M/F.

I use to have a ML Premier F casting rod, now that was more of a popper/jb rod but it has been discontinued, ST Croix Med F I would use for heavier trebles like spooks but that is about it.

Never mind I see you listed it as spinning, ya that rod should be fine .

I have that rod. It's what I take to creek that feeds into the Kankakee river in IL. The smallies make a run up the creek when the temps go up and I use it for walking a Heddon Spit'n Image or I'll tie on a jerk bait. It'll work just fine for what you intend to use it for.
