Hi, lurking for a while but just registered. I recently upgraded(?) from a 1990 Javelin 366 DC w/90 to a 2000 Javelin Renegade 18DC w/115 Hp Johnson. I really like the old 366 and wanted another Javelin. Both boats are about the same size, but the newer Renegade, unlike the old one, seems to sit very low in the water. When I put my chubby butt (245 lbs) on the front platform I have about 14" of freeboard above water. This concerns me as I sometimes fish lakes that are pretty rough. I took it out on calm water today and was concerned when pleasure craft pass with a sizable wake. Is this normal for this boat or do I have a problem. I have noticed that the tongue weight on the trailer is much more than the old boat but thought that was just placement and balance on the trailer. The new boat is not overloaded with gear on the front. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I may want to take care of some of the wear and tear on the old boat and keep her... :-/

Any thing it it that could be water logged ?

That was my first thought too, but the previous owner said he kept it in his garage, towed it to the lake and never left it in the water overnight. I was hoping somebody had one like it and would let me know if that was just the nature of this model.

a picture or two of the boat in the water would help.  

We have seen this with different procrafts. Ours 1998 sits much lower than an 89. We have been on some tough water and never had a problem unless it hit directly on the back end. Even then very little water came over

Seriously, when in the water on a calm day if you turn on the bilge are you pumping any water?  If so, you may have bigger issues.

I saw a guy at the lake a couple weeks ago in an old Cajun bass boat, circa late 70's early 80's.  When he was on the front pedestal seat that boats rubrail was just a couple inches above the waterline.  Any sort of small chop on the water or boat wave would've gone right over the front of that boat.  This was no big guy either.  Probably only weighed around 170lbs.  

Now that was a boat that had some low-rider issues.  

If I remeber correctly the Renegades were a much heavier boat than some of the other Javelins
