Kerr Lake bridge clearance

Featured Replies

Evening,  question for anyone familiar with the Bridge on HWY 15 next to long wood boat ramp.  I haven’t been there in a long time and that was in a bass boat. I am planning a trip but plan to bring my bayboat which has a ttop. If anyone is familiar, what’s the normal clearance passing under the 15 bridge. Thanks all

The Route 15 bridge is high over the water.

May I suggest you contact Bobcat's Bait and Tackle, 434.374.8381, and I am sure they can tell you all about the bridge and if your boat can clear it.  Get one of the guys to fill you in on the height.

Also remember that Kerr can rise over 6-feet of its normal pool level, if not more, if it gets a lot of rain runoff so call this number for the lake level. 300 is normal pool, 434.738.6145. Press 3 for water levels. And also go to their web site,  http://kerr.uslakes.info/Level/

You can always call the Corps of Engineers and ask them the height of the bridge over the water, 434.738.6143.

Have fun and be safe.

Assuming you mean Bluestone, you should be good.  I put in at that ramp daily when I was working in Boydton and staying on the lake.  There were bigger boats than a bay boat with a T going through there.

Picture from this past weekend's junior state tournament out of Occoneechee State Park Ramp.

Note the bridge in the background.

Kirby, please confirm this is the Route 58/15 bridge into Clarksville. The Route 15 bridge is not in this picture but it will give you an idea of the bridge's height over Kerr.

Check out Google for the Occoneechee State Park and you can see the bridges.

May be an image of nature

Sam - that is Rt. 58.

Rt. 15 crosses at Bluestone and is the old bridge into town, both of which are high enough for a T-Top.  Looking at Google Maps it also crosses further south towards North Carolina and there is a ramp, but I am unfamiliar with that one.

Thanks, Kirby.

With all the times I have blasted off on that ramp I never paid any attention to which bridge was which. Only which way to go after going under or by the bridges.

Be safe and go catch some big ones with this beautiful weather we are having.

Hey I'm at an advantage, I worked in the area for 2 years and stayed in Clarksville.

Glad to hear the weather finally broke up there, means my dad can take the boat out.  It's already getting hot and humid down here in Tampa.
