Anybody know of any good products that will keep my bendix mechanism working smoothly and not gunk up after a while.  Any replies appreciated.

I use a very light lubricant made by CRC called 2-26. It is primarily for electrical duty. It has the consistancy something like WD-40, but unlike WD, it has real lubricating abilties. I just spray a shot on once in a while, and clean the shaft with a rag once in a while too.

Never had a gear stuck yet (knock on fiberglass)

You may have the  connections wrong on your battery.Last year my neighbor had the same problem on his Merc 25 hp. Terminals were faded due to Sunlight. Red is positive,Black is negative. Just a thought.Crowcommander
