I bought a Kastking Compass casting rod in 7' MH. I've used it a couple times and so far it's holding up well. Haven't caught a bass on it yet though. I bought it cuz I'm going to Indiana in August for a week, and needed a good travel rod that wasn't too expensive.

 

I've been thinking of trying a spiral wrapped casting rod, but not quite ready to buy one. So I was thinking if I tweak the telescoping length and just turn each section so the spiral down on the left, with the tip facing down; I wonder if I can get a good idea how a spiral wrapped casting rod would feel and perform.

 

I'll try this idea out this weekend and I'll take before and after pics of the guides.
