I've fished gaston a few times and caught some OK fish but will be on it for a week 7/30 to 8/7. I'll more of less be staying on the northern side from goat Island and have my boat with me so range anywhere isn't an issue. 

 

Can anyone recommend areas to search in or any particular lure? I've mostly been fishing off main lake points, secondary main lake points and drop off transitions around some islands. Most luck has been coming from spinners and shakyhead but I'm sure there is better than what I've been getting.

From the 903 bridge check out the entire creek, I can not remember the name of the creek but it is the second larger creek arm on your right before you get to the bridge, if I remember correctly there is a Gazebo on one of the two points, I have added a photo with a highlighted area.

 

I was there in the spring just after the spawn and really felt like this area had a lot to offer, we didn’t get the chance to soak up all of its information but it defiantly had some prime structural changes along with a lot of idealistic cover, we just ran in there way too late.

 

Personally the only way I have had any success there is with skirted jigs and a lot of plastics, worms on Texas Rig/Carolina Rig, swim jigs, drop shot, take your time and really pick the places apart and she will render some clues for ya.
