1989 Tracker TF 1600 (A few questions)

Got this boat for $1500

110 Johnson on the back, the only thing that needs work is the gelcoat/paint and the inside is without carpet.

I need some info on restoring the gelcoat or having it painted or wrapped. I have researched all these options but there is an overwhelming amount of idea, theories and way to do things. I have noticed some other renovations and old boat makeovers and wondered if you guys had any ideas on this? I pretty much think I can get the carpet but the outside is looking like a daunting task. Thanks in advance for all the info.

I can't tell much from your picture.

Gelcoat that's oxidized can be refinished back to a pretty shiny luster using several different methods.  Oxidation normally appears as a dull, chalky surface.  You can get some idea if the boat is doable by trying some rubbing compound and attempting to polish off a small area.  If you remove the oxidation and still have a smooth surface, there's a good chance the finish is salvageable.  If you can feel the flake once you've polished down that area or you can feel the metal flake elsewhere you're toast.  Re-gelling that boat would far exceed what it's worth.  There are some cheaper alternatives you could try to put the shine back on but they're not long term.

Is the clear coat peeling?  Going by the picture the finish looks chalky, cloudy.  You may be able to bring that back to life.  Try working a small area with some rubbing compound and see what you get.  You can also take it by a detail shop and see what they think.  Estimates are free, much cheaper than getting it re-cleared.
