Garmin 106SV’s transducer…transom or trolling motor?

Featured Replies

I am getting a new 106SV installed tomorrow  I currently have a Helix with the transducer mounted on the trolling motor. The new Garmin is phase one of a move towards Livescope somewhere down the road? Should I mount the 106’s transducer on the transom. It is a 16 ft Riverhawk and is the only electronics on the boat. I don’t do much vertical “video game” fishing.

If the graph is on the bow I like the transducer to be on the TM so I’m seeing where I’m at, not where I’ve been. If you add the livescope down the road, you could relocate the transducer to the transom or buy one of those separate poles I’ve seen made for that.  But, TBH that’s just my thought.  I am certainly no expert on electronics.
