Issues with new Optimax 115 ELPTO

Featured Replies

I just bought a new Tracker V-18 and 115 Merc Optimax this summer. After about 10 hours on the motor it began to run rough........then worse. For various reasons, bringing it back to the Tracker service center in Orlando was my last preferred option so I tried the usual fixes myself.......first. I drained the fuel tank, changed the fuel filter and checked for loose connections, etc.

A few weeks ago, we ran the entire length of Toho almost flat out and thought the problem was cured. Heading back into the boat ramp it started to run horribly again :-/ It's very strange in that it will either run perfectly OR bog down and run like CRAP :( I get no alarms when this is happening. The fuel lines from what I can tell are not restricted or clogged in any way. There is no fuel line filter, just the one on the motor.

Last week, I towed the boat up to the service center in Orlando. I hate to say it but, my faith them over the years had dwindled but I'm hoping to get lucky and it will be a simple fix. I thought I would try ONCE to get it fixed under the warantee before I bought it somewhere else.

Any thoughts, suggestions or related information would be greatly apprecaited.

Back when it was running good and everyone was smiling   ;)
