Super User clayton86 Posted November 3, 2021 Super User Posted November 3, 2021 Been tossing the idea around of getting another pistol like I always am but I really want a compact 45 of some sort. I’ve got a 1911 and the p320 full size in 45 as my duty gun but I want a compact for EDC off the clock to chose when I don’t feel like carrying the 365. trying to decide what one to look for I’m not a fan of glocks at all I like my sigs so I thought maybe a 320 compact or even the 1911 commander or officer models since there shorter. anyone EDC a 45? What did ya go with? being NY I’m limited to how many rounds my mag can hold which is why I went 45 for my duty gun over a 9 even though I’m exempt from the law for mag capacity while on the clock I’m supposed to leave the “hi” cap mags at work and it wasn’t worth the headache of trying to remember or the hassle of swapping when I clock in and out though from all the cops I’ve talked to while at work none would care if I had the hi cap mags off the clock. Todd2 Posted November 4, 2021 Posted November 4, 2021 I don't think you could go wrong with a Commander or Officer 1911, especially an alloy frame. I have a 1911 full size steel (target) but it's strictly a range gun. It's just not something I want to carry around. We (Kentucky) don't have the mag restrictions you have but very rarely do I carry anything more than my Ruger EC9 with 9+1 or even just a little snub nose 38 most of the time. Only once in my whole life did I really ever think I was in a situation where I needed one. Luckily I only had to draw it out and not fire but I hope it never happens again. Quote
Super User NHBull Posted November 4, 2021 Super User Posted November 4, 2021 I tried a lot of .45 Compact and the best of the worst for me is the M+P I would consider the .40 Shield Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted November 4, 2021 Author Super User Posted November 4, 2021 Gonna see if one of the local dealers that only does sales to Law enforcement and military at blue label or sig app(I think that’s what sig calls there program) can order me a Sig 1911 fastback nightmare carry and what the price would be. One of my co workers just got a glock 19 optic ready from them and they told him they could order me anything when he asked if they could order a gun for me if they don’t have it in stock. Quote
Super User NHBull Posted November 5, 2021 Super User Posted November 5, 2021 They definitely do that. My son is NH SP and gets a hell of a deal on all Sig gear Quote

Some how being a armed guard works for the first responder discount there and blue label at other places. 1 Quote

I used to always like kimbers but working in the gun department at a sporting good store last year I got to see them all day everyday and heard a lot of horror stories about the new ones I’ve been turned off of the kimber name your paying for. They look nice and feel nice but for the price you pay for a kimber seems to come up short. Quote

Kimber's are super pretty, over priced MIM filled scrap metal. I have no idea how they show up to shops looking so good on the outside, because I've some where it looks like a blind man machined the internals. I'm certain Helen Keller runs their QC. 1 Quote
