I'd like to get an Avail shallow spool for my Calcutta 51 and need to know if the Conquest (JDM) is the same reel so same spool. Can anyone confirm this?

I don’t think CQ spool gonna fit into Calcutta. It has been a long time since I sold my Calcutta, but if I remember correctly spool shaft doesn’t come with bearing, does it?

I can check shaft length and spool diameter on CQ if you want.

 

Just James, yes please. My Calcutta 51 has spool bearings on the shaft.

Spool rim is 2mm (form HH)

total shaft length 60mm

spool diameter 30-31mm

They are two different reels and the spools are different.

The Calcutta 50 is a small work horse reel. The Conquest 50 was a refined thing of beauty. Both reels had a very poor drag system. Definitely needed carbon drag washers in both models.

I still have both reels in the JDM version as well as the Calcutta TE 50 GT. It was the US version of the Conquest 50 but not as refined.
