2005 Daiwa TD Sol Baitcast Reel Question

Featured Replies

Is the USDM Sol baitcast reel, which frame is it similar to from back then; Japanese version. The Pixy or Alpha?

I'm looking to get a shallow spool for my Sol to make it a BFS reel. I may have to get one from overseas, if I know which model and spool is needed.

You need 33 mm spool which is alphas spool. Pixy is 31mm

Like was said above, 33mm is what you need.  I think the only ones available these days are the Ray's Studio and SLP Alphas SV105 spool, haven't seen an AMO or Roro in 33mm for a bit now.  You may also want to upgrade the drag to Carbontex while you're at it.  It's a sweet reel and based on the JDM Daiwa Alphas 103.  Here's mine with an orange SLP Works spool, also has a Carbontex drag.

If I remember correctly my spool is a darker orange.  It is a Presso spool with spacers I made.

That's the beauty of the Alphas and why it's my favorite reel.  You can outfit it any way you want.  There's a few people that make spool spacers that I know of.  I had a set made to use 30mm spools in my Alphas SV TW but have yet to put them in as I haven't decided on a spool yet.

I gave my program to a guy on TT.  He has a friend with a machine shop.  He then had his friend make spacers for him using my program...which he then sold.  I gave away the left over spacers I had made.  I haven't had the time to make more in years.  Supposed to have a new programmer coming to help me.  Maybe then I can find time to make a few more.  :teeth:
