Need help 1952 Sea Nymp 12' v hull

Featured Replies

I inherited this boat from my Grandfather a few years back and did nothing with it. I bought a trailer this spring and have used it a couple of times.

I am thinking about some renovations but would like to get some advice first.

When I took it fishing the first time, I didn't get a bite, and I attributed it to the fact that everything you do (even breathing) makes noise.

I would like to put flotation in the floor with plywood and carpet. The floor at it's widest point is 41" wide and tapers to 36" at the back (stern??). Is this wide enough to have a couple of pedestal seats?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Picture files too big to post. Will try to downsize them.

Yea its plenty wide enough but with a v hull you don't want to go to high I have a 14' sea king with a v hull that I bolted boards in just below the top lip and then bolted 3 seats in that are mounted at the swivel plate any higher than that you run the risk of capsizing your boat.

I also put some cheap carpet in the bottom not so much for noise but to keep my gear in place.

Thanks for the help! I am not going to start on my boat until I get the foam for flotation, so I have plenty of time for suggestions.

That was one of my main concerns about the project.

I have worked with pics for an hour trying to get them under the maximum size. Even retook them at 1.3mp and still too large to post. Help!
