Solar Charging 24V Trolling

Featured Replies

I was wondering if anyone has some experience or leads on Solar 24V DC to charge my 24V Trolling Motor batteries. I am in a boat dock now that has some solar with an old inverter and the supply is not there for my demands. Its ok to raise the boat lift, but my on board charger is too large of a drain. So, I am thinking about a seperate system. Preferably, I would like to elimintae an inverter for chargng my batteries. Any leads/experience sharing would be appreciated. Thanks

It all depends on how often you use your boat. You would need a, relatively, huge solar array to put out the 20 amps needed to charge a battery. I would suggest two 12V 300W panels and battery controllers to charge each battery. this will be $$$ http://www.solarhome.org/200wattsolarpanels.aspx
