PT 175 txw - thoughts on awning...

Featured Replies

So i got a Tracker PT 175 txw. I love the crud out of this thing, spend hours out there at a time and that is where this thought came to mind.

Be it winter, or the summer sun or rain, on my 12-14 hour stints on the lake some days I would kill to be able to take a breather and get on out of the sun/rain/wind for a few, grab a quick bite and relax for a second.

So I am thinking anyone know of any awning, or anything out there they make that I could rig on the boat for suck a thing? I thought maybe if I could just cover the console section a bit that would be fine.

I have been considering building my own with some aluminum bars and some all weather fabric but I want something that I can retract/fold up without getting in the way of fishing.

Any thoughts guys and gals?

LOL, that thing is awesome. Like one of those things my kids have all over the house except with ties downs and it is not pink (I have girls).

Do you have one of these things?

Overtons and a couple other places sold an awning that had a single pole in the middle and the corners tied off onto cleats or railings. Not quite high enough to stand up completely underneath but there was still lots of room. Easy to put up, it got you out of the sun but still allowed plenty of air flow underneath. I've seen one in action and it worked really well.

That tent looking thing looks like it would get a might toasty inside on a warm summer day.

Otherwise another option would be to see if anyone sells a bimini top for a boat as narrow as yours. Again, try Overtons for starters.

Another good suggestion. I could see value in both, the tent thing would be real nice in the winters. I know a couple times last year, I was out on a cold, drizzly day with a cold wind, even with all my gear, it would have been nice to hunker down on that puppy for a bit.

It has that front/back door for air flow but I wonder in a 98+ degree day like today, how that would be. Heck, just to get some shade would be nice.

It is not that I spend a ton of time sitting around doing nothing, usually I am up on the bow working the lure but when the kids are with me and they get their fill, having a little nook for them to play and use the toilet would be nice.

BTW, I actually kept one of their training potties for them to use. Right now I have them sit in the rod locker (all 4 are girls) for some measure of privacy.
