Daiwa Steez SV TW Replacement spools

Featured Replies

In the near future I am getting the daiwa Steez sv TW and it’s my dream reel. The only problem is I want it to be more versatile. It is great for baits up to 1/2 oz (or so I’ve heard) but I might want to throw slightly heavier than that. The sv system was also designed for control, not necessarily distance I might need some distance sometimes.

I think an HLC spool would be good for this? I have also heard that the sv boost spool is great on this reel.

Most of my reels are Steez SV’s and I have no issues casting for distance or throwing heavier lures.  I don’t use a Steez on my big rods like my swimbait/glide bait rod and I use a wider spooled reel on my deep cranking rod.  The 1/2 oz max is bad advice IMO.  Some people tweak out their high end reels but I have never had the desire to with a Steez.  It is a gem straight out of the box for almost anything you want to use it with.

Thanks so much, this is so reassuring!

You want the magZ boost spool.  The 34 mill hlc isn't as well liked as the 36 mil hlc spools.

Would this serve the same purpose? Long casts with heavy baits?

Supposedly.  Everyone that has put their zillion boost spool in their steez seems to say it performs better in the steez.  Not a lot of feedback on how the magZ boost performs in the steez but it should certainly do better woth long casting heavier baits than the stock spool by virtue of it being a higher cap boost spool.
