Aluminum Bass Boat

Featured Replies

I fish with a small 10' aluminum bass boat. does anyone have any advice on improving it to make fishing with it easier.

carpet it make a storage area or a console where you could put gear in

Make a false floor out of marine plywood the outdoor carpet on that. This will help with noise, it will also give you more area for mounting any type of equipment that you may want to secure to the boat.

you coul make mid dexks out of reinforced sealed and carpeted plywood then make a deck in the fron or back with some storage hatches and a few rod holders, also some padded seats on the little wise swivels is nice too.

10 footer is really to small to do anything safely. At most I would put a carpet floor just to make it easier on the feet and gear, and 2 swivel seats. The weight capacity on 10's is low. With 2 guys, battery and gear you are probably over as is.

Be very careful building anything that will add any weight to a boat of this size. You are changing the weight ratio and just asking for trouble. Lay a piece of carpet if you want, but no more.

I'd consider upgrading to the biggest 12 volt trolling motor I could get.  If you fish by yourself alot, you could consider getting several deep cycle batteries and wiring them parallel to extend your running time.  If you need a depth finder you could get one of those Hummingbird Fishing Buddies portable depth finders.

Should you need separate 12 volt power, to urn your depth finder or what not, consider a smaller, 12 volt motorcycle battery.
