tackle kits?

Featured Replies

I am looking for some recommendations on tackle kits. I want to get a variety of lures and spend some time on each type until I get comfortable with them. I thought a variety kit may be useful. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I live in coastal NC so a lot of the water I fish is brackish. I also have a few man made resevoirs within a few hours that I fish. ie Kerr lake, Shearon Harris lake.

The problem I find in most "tackle kits" is that you don't really get good quality lures or if you do, they are mixed in with some lower quality stuff.  I think you would be better off, buying one of two bags of better quality stuff and just working 'em until you are comfortable with them and then move on to something else.  You may find that you actually save $$ in the long run.

I'm planning on making some kits this winter for next year.  I have toyed with the idea for a while and I think I'll do it.

My first kit will be a "shaky head" kit with a mix of different brands of heads and worms.

Next might be a jig trailer kit with ZOOM, Paca Chunk and the new Strike King trailers coming out this fall <--- way cool trailers BTW!

I might even make a Live Magic Shad kit with baits and hooks.

Other suggestions?

Brad,

With being new to bass fishing ( by new I mean just a few months) I would be looking for a good starter kit with a mix of different bait types. That way I could try new lures without having to go and spend a  fortune. Or maybe put together a seasonal kit, for the different times of year. I will be looking for your kits soon.

starter kit

trick sticks (10)

flukes (10)

lizards (10)

ewg (8) and circle hooks (4)

4 bullet weights 1/8(2) 1/4 (2)

spinnerbait

crankbait

jitterbug

1/4 oz or 5/16 jig w/ craw trailer (3)

just a suggestion

crank bait kit, live magic shad kit, jig kit,and top water kit is what i'd be looking for but when your on s.s.i its hard to buy big kits

get a jig kit.

Well, I'm starting on some kits.  They should all be ready by November for Christmas time, maybe sooner.  I'd like to offer them all at once, but who knows.

So far, I am working on a Shakey Head kit that will have ZOOM Trick Worms, ZOOM Finesse Worms, Jack's Worms and Giggy Sticks.  Sizes from 4" to 6".  It will have heads from Bagley, Spot Remover, Gambler, Picasso and Reaction Innovations ranging from 1/16 to 3/8 oz. in several colors.

Another kit is a frog kit.  SPRO Frogs, Horny Toads and Cane Toads as well as ZOOM Hooks, EWG Hooks and Mustad Impact Hooks.

Last, a soft swimbait kit with all three sizes in a mix of colors of the Live Magic Shad as well as EWG hooks and Gamakatsu darter heads.  Thrown in are also a few Reaction Innovations soft swim baits as well.

Still working on several other ideas.

Brad
