Another winterizing question

Featured Replies

All the winterizing discussions talk about what you need to do to the motor.

Do I need to run some rv antifreeze through the livewells, the livewell fill pump, and the bilge pump?  Won't the pumps be damaged if not?  If so, how do I get the pump to pick up the pink stuff?

Thanks

As long as you have all of the plugs out and no standing or trapped water you should be alright.  The bilge and livewell pumps don't hold water so theres no danger there.  Even if some moisture(rain or snow) gets in the boat over the winter you'll be alright as long as it has somewhere to drain or expand.  W/ the plugs out of the boat and livewell you should be alright.  Obviously it would be best to have a good cover on the boat or have it tucked away in dry storage.  Hope this helps.

That does help, thanks.  Went ahead and fogged the motor last night.  Just need to change the LU oil and check the batteries, and I should be good!  Can't believe I used to pay someone to do that!
