heck no, you are getting ripped off.  You can get a full blown 17 ft fiberglass boat with 100+ hp easily for 2 grand.

Ummmm where would this be?

just look around on craigslist.  My 17.5 ft procraft with a perfect running 1978 115 hp outboard was 2 grand.  My new boat was a little bit more but then again its alot newer.  The procraft did everything and more then that boat you put up will do.  Look around and dont rush it and you will find awesome deals.

I won't buy anything fiberglass older than late 80's if that old.....

I know someone that had one of these boats and he has had it forever and really likes it. He even re-powered it and fishes allover the place with it.

if your just going to discount what im saying then go ahead and buy that boat.  Let me know in a few months when you see some of the deals im talking about on craigslist, how you feel about what you bought.

I don't know if this is still available, but if it was you could probably get him lower than 2000.

I highly doubt this one is still available, but just an example.

Those came up in a quick search on CL. Honestly you should've been looking at the end of the season before people were putting them into storage. You can wait until the spring to buy one, but it'll be harder getting it for cheap.

I didn't start looking till early december this was a deal where my buddy called me and asked if I was interested..

Offer them 1500 and see what happens but I think your mind is already made up.

Nah my minds not made up I wouldn't have posted if it was.

In my opinion it's a decent deal. That is as long as you are looking for a small aluminum bass boat. It sounds like you should be able to get an honest answer on how it's been treated. Buying from someone you know would sway me.

Now it is really gonna depend on where you plan on fishing. You won't be taking that boat on the Ozarks, not without going home with an "I should have died" story. If you are going to be fishing some larger lakes you will be much happier with a fiberglass boat like Carrington said.

Personally I would give 2 grand for that boat as long as everything checks out but I fish two local lakes with horsepower restrictions.

What year is everything?  Find that out, look it up on NADA and you will know.

I recently sold similar 86 model boat with an 88 model 48 hp rude on it for $900 just to get it out of my yard.

I would place a value of $1,200 on it. You're probably going to find that TM is barely enough to move it around on a calm lake. It looks like it's no more than a 20# thrust motor.

I'm not sure how large you are buy you will probably find it almost impossible to sit in the front pedistal seat with out it leaning to one side or the other. I weigh 215 pounds and that was my main hangup with the one I practically gave away.

Check the lube in the lower unit. Remove the bottom drain plug and make sure it comes out black. Milky, drops of water or fresh lube probably means it leaks. The motor is a late 80's - early 90's and that's the older style LU they used on the 28's to make them cheaper and are very prone to leak.  It's a 30 hp power head without oil injection and without through the prop exhaust.

Sounds like I'll probably pass on it. I'm a big guy at 230 and 6ft. I've found quite a few glass boats for the 7500-9000 range I like. I just thought it sounded like a good deal and suit my needs for awhile.

Big glass boats cost a whole lot more to operate and tow.  I personnaly prefer the big glass boats over the tin cans any day of the week but if the boat meets your needs, I would check it out and make an offer you feel comfortable with.  I'm 6'1" and 215, about your same size, and just didn't like the one I bought.  Another thing, I bought it because it was fairly cheap, $1,100 (that was with a 48 hp) and thought it would make a nice boat for some of the smaller lakes and not have to mess with my 20' Javelin.  I put it in the water twice, it sat in my yard three years after that and begged someone to get it out.

Towing isn't an issue since I have a Silverado 2500 HD with the duramax. i realize it may be more to operate but would be willing to deal with it.

Just from the looks of it I wouldn't pay $2,000 there's has to to better at that price range I'd keep looking also if you can afford to pay $3,000 you will get more boat and motor.
