trolling motor mount

Featured Replies

I have a minn kota bow mount trolling motor.  It is the power drive model

When you retract the motor it just pulls straight up and lays down on the mount.  It does not have the piece that lets it go up and out as you deploy it, like most other motors.  Because of the way it is made you have to mount it with the mount sticking out about 5 or 6 inches beyond the edge of the boat.  I don't like it sticking out like that, called minn kota and they said it has to be  mounted that way.  The guy I talked to said Cabelas used to sell a retractable mount that you mounted the original mount on and that let you slide the mount out and in .

I called Cabelas and they said they no longer sell the mount.

Does anyone know where I could find one, or know of another solution for the problem?

I have one of those type MinnKotas mounted on the bow of my river jon boat for about 15 years. It does stick out a couple of inches, but it never occurred to me to get bothered by it.
