Dobyns Fury/Powell Endurance 735C

Featured Replies

Who has experience with the Dobyns Fury 735C and the Powell Endurance 735C? I use a Fury 735 and was thinking of getting an Endurance 735 as well… just wondering how they compare.

I'll tell you the Powell Endurance rod will be at least 1-2oz  lighter that the Fury. The Powell Endurance is more than likely lighter than even my Dobyns Champion XP weight wise.

A Champion 734 SH weighs in at 4.7oz on my digital scale, Dobyns balances their rods so you don't get fatigued fishing all day. Their rods will feel lighter than other brands due to how the build their rods.

I would give a rough guess the Endurance 735 would be around 4oz give or take, I don't have one here to say for sure.

I'm just not a big fan of the color scheme on the Endurance models with black/blue/purple mix, if you compare colors at Powell Rods site they are black/blue. If you don't care at the color scheme then it isn't a big deal. Powell rods make a good rod and their build/quality are top notch that I've used.

According to the specs on their website the Endurance weighs in at 3.6oz. Found a used (LIKE ALMOST BRAND NEW) Endurance 755 glass rod for $70 and it’s crazy light for glass. I happened to have picked up a few Tatula CT’s on sale a few months back so I put the 6.3:1 on it and it’s looks great!! Have a 7.3:1 and 8.1:1 that need homes. This rod and a Champion XP are in the top 2 spots.

You can't pass up that rod for that price.

Definitely couldn’t pass it up. I had a 755 glass Diesel that was great for long casts with bladed jigs around grass, but it got hung up on under a boat cleat while I was retying and broke… it subsequently wound up in the marsh grass ??‍♂️ The Endurance feels similar… maybe a little more sensitive than the Diesel.
