Possibly getting a 788ci

Featured Replies

I've been combing this section about this topic and have found a lot of great info. I still have a question though: I'm wanting to get a 788ci for the boat this season. Ideally, I'd love to have it up on the bow and have the big 1198 back on the counsel, but just don't have that kind of money right now. So I'm wanting to know, would a 788ci DI be worth it to put on the counsel? I'd love to have the SI, but that's too much for me. What do you guys think?

-hope I'm making sense here.

My opinion is that any Imaging technology is better than none at all. It will help you interpret what the 2D is showing most of the time.

I guess you know there are two versions of the 788ci. One is just 2D and the other is the 2D/DI.

If you order one, select the correct one it is about $100 more.

Awesome, thats what I was thinking, but didn't know for sure. Thanks for the heads up on the 2D/DI combo also!

I have a 788ci on my bow and I love it. I got it last summer when my Lowrance unit filled with water for the THIRD TIME and they just kept replacing it with the same unit!!! I also have a Lowrance 28c Hd on my dash. It has a ton of options and works well, but if anything happens to it I'd definitely go to a 1198si because of the reliability, customer service, and ease of use with the Humminbirds. I'd also like to link the units together...but that's down the road. If you get a 788ci, you won't be disappointed.
