Power Pole vs. Minn Kota Talon

Featured Replies

I have a power pole and love it. I use it in so many situations I can't name them all but I am changing boats and plan to go with the power pole again; however I wanted to get input on the Talon from the board and see if there is any reason to change.  Any body out there with a Talon that would like to chime in?

Being a powerpole owner and having logged many hours on my partner's talon, the only reason I see making the switch is cheaper (Sig Series) and a little bit more features. The powerpole is proven and is backed by one of the best customer service in the industry. That being said, the talon is the new kid on the block and has a lot to prove. So far it has held up pretty well, but scares the hell out of me with all the noises it makes. It's faster deploying/ retracting than my powerpole but it's not always as fast anchoring but the talon does hold better through chop/ boat wake. I'd like to see a talon do this:

Definately going to stick with my power pole based on the video. I'm not sure who built the jack plate on that boat but they should use that video. Man I think I have been through that cut many times.  I think it is just west of the river out of Okeechobee.

That's the plate I used on mine.  I was thinking of the stress on the transom and jackplate during the demo, especially the section where they started with both poles all the way down and got up on plane.  Awesome product demo to show strength.

Yea it's pretty crazy, have you seen the other ones?

You know, I knew Power Poles were strong, but wow. You couldn't ask for a better product test/demo than those videos. Thats really impressive.

Power Poles already got in a jam with false videos once so I'm having a hard time with believing any of their claims.

Iv fished with power poles many a time and like I said its a great product but I would venture to say those poles in those videos were toast for any long term use after those tests.

All they showed me was that the brackets were strong. If something was falsified once it kind of kills it with me.
