ALX Zolo Brawler vs Enox Shock

Featured Replies

So the TFO Elite 736 just doesn't do it for me. Does anyone here fish either of these two rods? I've been more than happy with my Toadface & Deputy. I'm quickly becoming an ALX fan.

I have the enox shock. This rod can handle some pretty heavy weights, well above its rating. I use mine for light punching/flipping and some lighter a-rig work. It’s got a lot of backbone for setting the hook and fighting fish but still bends fairly deep into the blank to help keep fish pinned. That’s my favorite characteristic of most of the ALX rods I own.

I had the brawler but did not like it. It was pretty tip heavy in my hands.

Have been debating on posting the Shock in the marketplace since I don’t use it as often as I used to. Feel free to shoot me a pm if you’re interested.

Thanks, this is the kind of info I was looking for. Alex said they both are rated down to 3/8 but that is not not counting a trailer so closer to 1/2oz on the bottom end. Is that pretty accurate to your experience?

Yes 1/2 oz and up in my opinion. I was usually around the 1 oz mark. It handled up to a 2 oz glide bait fine, but I wouldn’t go over that.

Chatting with a dude on another site, he said the Shock was the most tip heavy rod he’d ever used. Even with 8oz reel. What do you think?

Slightly but noticeably less than the zolo brawler or powerbolt… haven’t fished a 7’6-8’0 heavy rod that wasn’t at least a little bit tip heavy.

Thanks again.
