A New Legend

Featured Replies

Since I am using light line for crankbaits from 6 to 8 pound, as I have related in another thread, I purchased a St. Croix Legend Tournament Walleye rod model TWS70MHM / Deep cranker. Designed for casting or trolling crankbaits including medium- to large-size minnow baits, jerkbaits and rattlers. It is 7' Power-MH Action-Mod. Line Weight 6 - 12 Lure Weight 1/4 - 3/4. I have a Shimano Sustain on it and I love the set-up. The rig gives me long casts and has plenty of power on the bass I am catching with it. ;) I'm still planning on getting a set-up for using deep spinners but I really love this Legend rod for crankbaits. If you have need of a crankbait spinning rod I recomend checking it out.

Papa it sounds like a great rod for the deep, clear waters of Bull Shoals. I've always used a baitcasting rig for all but the lightest of crankbaits, but for your waters this sounds like a great outfit. I've never used, or even played with, a Sustain but I bet that is a sweet reel? Good luck with the new gear.

Legend Tournament rods are great ;)  I bought one, and built 4 others with their blanks.  They are actually my favorite rods right now.
