Need Recommendation for Tackle

Well, its christmas time and I wanted to pick up a new set of tackle. I mainly fish for inshore species mainly stripers. Do you guys have any suggestions for which rod and which reel that I should purchase?

So far the reels that I want are the : Powell Max 683C, St Croix Avid Series 7', Airrus Spectra AFT 7'

The reels that I choose out were : Avet SX 5.1, Abu Garcia Ambassadeur Record

If you guys have any suggestion please help a fellow angler out! My budget is around 300-400 dollars.

I PROBABLY SOUND LIKE A COMMERCIAL, THIS IS THE THIRD PLUG I'VE GIVEN FOR THE ABU GARCIA RECORD THIS MORNING.

IT'S A GREAT REEL. I LOVE MY RCN-40.

I HAVE A NUMBER OF ST. CROIX RODS AND HAVE BEEN VERY PLEASED WITH THEM.

MOST OF MY FISHING IS FOR BRUISER LAKE ST. CLAIR SMALLIES.
