Oiled Reel, but Not Smooth

Featured Replies

I took the liberty to oil my reels today.  This is the first time I have done this.

I put one drop of oil on the spool bearings, handle knobs, tension knob, and levelwind assembly.

I did this to my TDX, Alphas, Spidercast SC 3000, TD 1 HI, and Shimano Scorp 1000.

It seems that the reel felt smoother and the spool spinned alot longer before I oiled the reel.  It seems that this only occured to the Daiwa reels.  Two have Magforce V and reg. magforce.  The Shimano and Mitchell reels seems smooth as or smoother than before.

I used the red Daiwa reel oil that was included with my Daiwa Alphas.

Any ideas???

Thanks

I'm sorry but I d/k what you are asking as the title doesn't agree with your post :-??

I thought the same thing when I first read it. You just have to read it a little more deliberately.

hotwheels,

Always clean the old out before re-oiling any part of the reel. If you have never done a cleaning on the reels, I would contact a qualified service center to have it done. All you do is put new oil over old oil if you don't, and it adds up in time.

RM has it. Clean them first to remove all the old oil, grease and accumulated crud. A word to the wise; if you don't have the schematics, proceed at your own risk. Better to send "em off to ReelMech.

Good luck,
