i was seaching around and looking at some bucktail jigs... i want to start throwing them..... i was wondering if any really works Bucktail jigs... if so which company makes the best ..... and how to fish them.....i uasally fish muddy waters  which colors works produce the most fish in these circumstances

I tie my own bucktails in all different colors and weights, anywhere from 1/64-1/4oz. But I really only use them when the temps drop around November and December, that is when the bucktail bite heats up. I position myself along a breakline where I know fish are located and make a cast with a 7' Medium action spinning rod and 8lb fluoro. I let the bait fall to the bottom and I give a light and short jerk of the rod tip so the bait pops off the bottom (but it only works when you give it a smooth soft pop, most of the time they won't hit it if you jerk it violently) and I continue that all the way back to the boat. But if that doesn't work then I add a small grub trailer and swim the bait very slowly back to the boat, keeping in contact with the bottom the whole way, almost like slow rolling a spinnerbait.
