I'd managed to clean 8 out of 11 reels with no trouble (simple round reels) before I started on my three shimanos.  I gave up and sent one Curado, and two Castaics to ReelMech.  Got them back yesterday, and they feel better than when when new!!!  He sent me a note telling me what all he found wrong with the Curado (after I'd got through with it :  ), and all I can say is lesson learned.  It's a lot easier to let Dave's fingers do the walking 8-)

Don't get down on yourself about the Curado. I think all anglers should break one down at least once. Once they do that, they tend to have a different outlook on reels.
